BOOKING CONDITIONS:

Please read and understand the following booking conditions so that you are best prepared for our time together.

  1. The Animals & The Environment: Horses need to be caught and waiting in a safe and appropriate area for treatment at the time that your appointment starts. Ideally, the area where we will be working will have the animal feeling safe and calm, on level ground and free from clutter.

  2. Young or Nervous Animals: It is your responsibility as an owner to ensure animals are calm and receiving appropriate training in preparation for this appointment. If you are unsure, please discuss with Janine prior to your appointment.
Appointments where animals are deemed too behaviourally challenging to complete treatment on will still incur a full appointment fee.

  3. Appointment Start Time: Horses need to be ready and waiting at the appointment start time. This includes being caught, rugs off and brushed. Time spent waiting for you to bring your horses in from the paddock or yard for their appointment will be deducted from your appointment time. I have a strict schedule to maintain with other client bookings and it isn’t fair that I run late to them because our appointment didn’t start on time as your animals were not ready.

  4. Things Happen: I do try to be on time for appointments, however working with animals can be unpredictable and sometimes circumstances are beyond our control. I will notify you as soon as practical that I am running late via SMS or Call.

  5. Clean and Dry: Horses do need to be clean and dry for your appointment. It is hard to work on wet horses and it is your responsibility to groom them prior to your appointment. Surface, loose coat needs to be removed prior to our appointment as should mud and obvious dirt.

  6. Welfare: Your horse and dog are my priority. If, in my professional experience, I have any concerns for your horse or dogs’ wellbeing, I will say so and will not hesitate to refer you to other professionals, including veterinarians, as their diagnosis will assist in working towards a treatment plan.

  7. Appointment Length: Appointment Lengths are 60 mins for bodywork and 90 mins for saddle fit. Please ensure you allow that amount of time in your schedule.

  8. Owner/Handler: I do require you as the owner or, a handler that you have delegated to be present for the appointment. This is for the safety of everyone involved as well as being able to give you direct feedback about your animal.

  9. Weather: Please note that Whole Herd Therapies reserves the right to cancel or rebook your appointment if adverse weather is predicted on the day of your appointment. Strong wind, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, extreme heat or fire risk all create a situation that can make your animal uncomfortable and potentially hazardous to travel. For convenience, an alternative time will be arranged.

  10. Contraindications for Massage/Bodywork:
It is important to note that some situations can be exacerbated by applying bodywork to them. During an assessment or treatment, Whole Herd Therapies may cease treatment if the horse presents a condition or symptom that gives rise to the suspicion of deteriorating health. Whole Herd Therapies may request that the horse is referred to a veterinarian before bodywork can be applied.
In respect of the above information, please understand the following list of contraindications of bodywork:

  • Heat or Swelling

  • Colic

  • Non weight bearing lameness

  • Dehydration

  • Acute trauma or significant injury

  • Significant Open Wounds

  • Pregnancy in early or late stages

  • “Tying Up”

  • Infectious Diseases

  • Cancerous Metastatic Tumours

Please note the definition of Contraindication is as follows:

"An influence, factor or situation renders the application of bodywork inadvisable or forbidden."
